Who We Are
Our History
Salit Specialty Rebar (SSR) is North America’s stainless steel rebar fabrication specialists.
SSR was established in 2002 with its Divisional Office in Niagara Falls, NY. The core business of SSR is to fabricate and distribute stainless steel reinforcing bars and mesh for the concrete construction and precast concrete industries.
In 2013, Salit opened SSR’s 40,000 square-foot facility at 1050 Military Road, Buffalo and began phase out of its Niagara Falls facility. The Buffalo facility was opened to expand its services and easily supply clients in Canada and the United States with an increasing range of stainless steel products. In addition, the facility was opened to firmly establish the company as the leading supplier of cut stainless steel rebar, and preformed stainless steel rebar and mesh in North America. The facility is approximately 6 km from the Peace Bridge, a major international border crossing between Fort Erie, Ontario, and Buffalo, New York.

SSR’s Military Road Plant Equipment
SSR’s facility on Military Road includes a new RMS Shearline that can be operated conventionally, or controlled by computer software. Integrated with the Shearline is a RMS 611 Hydraulic Guillotine Shear, which is a completely automated Shearing System. The R.M.S. station has double loading tables and double discharge. A MEP Planet 20 Plus coil machine is used for coil processing, straightening and shaping. The high productivity of the Planet 20 is for serial production (same diameter with two wires up to 16 mm) and “classified” production, when processing individual building elements such as beams and columns (variable diameters with single wire up to 20 mm).
Equipment
The Radius Machine was purchased from R.M.S. to form a radius without pre-bending the bar and in most cases in a one-step operation.
See the 1 min. 16 sec. demonstration about the features of the machine.
The R.M.S. Spiral Machine spirals rebar without the need to pre-bend the leading end of the bar.
